Council Applauds Appointment of Andrew Fremier to Lead Metropolitan Transportation Commission

The Bay Area Council this week applauded the appointment of veteran transportation leader Andrew Fremier as Executive Director of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, the region’s leading transportation planning agency. Fremier succeeds Therese McMillan, who retired Feb. 1 after serving as Executive Director for four years as part of a 29-year career at MTC.

“The Bay Area couldn’t ask for a better leader than Andy Fremier to take the wheel of the region’s lead transportation planning agency,” said Jim Wunderman, President and CEO of the Bay Area Council. “Andy’s unparalleled knowledge and experience will be invaluable as the Bay Area confronts some of the biggest challenges we’ve ever faced when it comes to keeping the region moving. Andy has always prioritized getting things done, which we need now more than ever as our transit systems struggle to recover from the pandemic, funding becomes more uncertain and we continue to push for the investments necessary to keep our highways, roads and bridges functioning and updated. The Bay Area Council looks forward to continuing our long and productive partnership with MTC and working with Andy to ensure the future mobility of our region.”
