Description

It was a terrific Hall of Fame program this year presented by Kaiser Permanente. This marked the 25th anniversary of the Hall of Fame and we were excited to honor three great leaders. Dr. Susan Desmond-Hellmann was the first female Chancellor of UC San Francisco during a remarkable 30-year career in which she also led break-through cancer discoveries at Genentech and later served as CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Over three generations, the Trefethen Family has been a Napa Valley winemaking pioneer and philanthropic giant. We also honored Bernard J. Tyson with posthumous induction. The Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente from 2013 until his sudden passing in 2019, Bernard was one of the most powerful, respected and influential healthcare leaders in the nation who served as Chair of the Bay Area Council from 2017-19.

To make it even better, we had Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell as keynote speakers. In the wake of an extraordinary election and in the midst of one of the worst economic downturns in generations, we heard timely insights from two of the nation’s most powerful leaders.
