New Report Highlights Potential of Impact Investing

Impact investing has garnered tremendous interest from the White House and the World Economic Forum all the way to individual investors. But the movement to invest for both financial and social return remains misunderstood by many. The Bay Area Council Economic Institute’s newest report, Investing with Purpose: Unlocking the Potential of Impact Investments, details the market potential for impact investing, areas in which it can create environmental and social benefits, and actions that can be taken to further develop the field. The report also includes numerous case studies of Bay Area impact funds and the innovative companies in their investment portfolios.

The report was released to a full house of interested investors at Bank of the West’s Palo Alto Wealth Management Center on Tuesday (Feb. 23). Economic Institute President Dr. Micah Weinberg moderated a panel that brought together a range of perspectives on impact investing, including Silda Wall Spitzer from NewWorld Capital and Alice Yu from Palantir Technologies, among others.
