Developing Regional Talent Development Network

Education and training are critical elements in developing an inclusive and diverse workforce, but the connections between employers and educators/trainers continues to be a challenge. Strengthening those connections is a key objective for the Bay Area Council Workforce of The Future Initiative, which this week (Feb. 27) helped launch the Regional Talent Development Network in partnership with the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Inland Empire Economic Partnership, Orange County Business Council, and Valley Vision.

The Regional Talent Development Network project is led by the LA Chamber and sponsored by a grant from JP Morgan Chase. The goal: to develop a regional talent development approach that more purposely aligns regional business and education organizations in co-developing and co-managing better-informed strategies for education and training programs. The project will gather best practices for creating a continuous feedback loop between industry and education stakeholders by using workforce and education/certification enrollment data. The ultimate aim of the coalition is to strengthen the California economy by supporting network members to create a regional workforce development context that facilitates better employer access to skilled workforce, and employee access to new opportunities to launch careers and grow skills.
