The Bay Area Council this week (Feb. 14) issued the following statement on the announcement by Sen. Dianne Feinstein that she will not be seeking re-election when her term ends in 2024. The Council has been honored to work with Sen. Feinstein on many of the critical issues facing the Bay Area, and we applaud her decades of public service to our region:

“California will never again see the likes of a pioneering leader like Sen. Dianne Feinstein. For more than a half century, Dianne Feinstein has dedicated her life to public service and has been a tireless and formidable champion for San Francisco, the Bay Area, California and the nation,” said Jim Wunderman, President and CEO of the Bay Area Council.

“As someone who worked for her when she served as Mayor of San Francisco and later partnered with her on so many public policy issues, I’ve never seen anyone work harder and with more effectiveness and integrity for our region and her constituents. Sen. Feinstein is a leader without parallel who’s fought unfailingly and unflinchingly every single day to make people’s lives better, to make our communities safer and more inclusive, to protect our environment and invest in the future. We look forward to continuing our work and partnership with Sen. Feinstein during her remaining two years in the Senate.”
