Statement on Passing of George P. Shultz

The Bay Area Council today (Feb. 7) issued the following statement on the passing of George P. Shultz.

“George P. Shultz was a giant among world leaders and a Bay Area treasure,” said Jim Wunderman, President and CEO of the Bay Area Council. “He will forever be remembered for his significant and historic contributions to global diplomacy and advancing democratic and free market principles around the world. But he also used his sharp intellect, steady pragmatism and quiet influence to promote the deepening of global economic connections, raise awareness about the threat of climate change and support innumerable academic, cultural and social institutions that have strengthened our communities and improved the lives of countless people. We send our deepest condolences to his wife, Charlotte, and the entire Shultz family.”
