Description

Join us Oct. 2 for the Opportunity for All Summit presented by Kaiser Permanente. California is one of only nine states to have banned affirmative action, a critical tool in achieving better racial equity outcomes. This November, Californians will have the chance to overturn this ban by voting yes on Proposition 16. Many major business leaders have come out in support of this measure, viewing it as a key piece in achieving racial justice and equity. Tune in for a discussion on the history, public debate, and implications of affirmative action, as well as how leaders see California advancing racial equality more broadly.

The event will feature a panel of top Bay Area sports leaders, including SF Giants CEO Larry Baer, SF 49ers CEO Jed York, San Jose Earthquakes COO Jared Shawlee and Oakland Roots Chair Steven Aldrich. An additional panel will feature a discussion with Mission Local’s Lydia Chavez and California Assemblymember Shirley Weber, who was instrumental in authoring the legislation that became Prop. 16.

Baer and York serve on the Council’s Executive Committee. The Giants and other teams have all endorsed Prop. 16.
