Commentary: California Businesses Are Ready to Help California Lead on Climate Goals

Joydeep Ganguly, Senior Vice President for Global Operations at Gilead Sciences and Co-Chair of the Bay Area Council’s Climate Change Mitigation Task Force, penned the following commentary on what how the business community stands ready to help California achieve its climate goals.

The California business community is known for its culture of innovation, and the area of climate leadership is no exception. Virtually every large employer in the state has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by at least 2040, five years ahead of the state’s own aggressive timelines. Large employers are ready to support California’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045, but we’ve got some big challenges to tackle to make that path possible.

As the state legislature prepares to launch a series of joint legislative hearings on maximizing the Inflation Reduction Act, here’s what the business community needs to succeed.
