Bay Area Council Urges California Senate to Reject SB 954

The Bay Area Council today (Aug. 26) issued the following statement on the state Assembly passing SB 954 to undo streamlining reforms designed to boost California manufacturing, jobs and investment.

“California’s opportunity to spark a manufacturing renaissance took a big hit today with the state Assembly vote to advance SB 954, a misguided bill that effectively reverses permit streamlining legislation approved just last year to supercharge manufacturing jobs and investment across the state,” said Libby Schaaf, President and CEO of the Bay Area Council. “We along with our partners at the CMTA and California Chamber of Commerce now call on the Senate to do the right thing for California’s economic future and reject SB 954. Just as we were beginning to see the benefits of the streamlining measures, with new manufacturing jobs being created in Santa Barbara, Livermore and Long Beach, we should not now tie our hands behind our backs, but that’s exactly what SB 954 will do.”
