Bay Area Council-led Coalition Pushes for Prop 4 Funding

The January Palisades Fire was a stark, tragic reminder of California’s ongoing vulnerability to wildfires and other climate-related challenges like drought, floods, sea level rise, and extreme heat events. That’s precisely why the Council’s Water & Climate Resilience Committee prioritized shaping last year’s climate resilience bond (Proposition 4) and supporting its passage.

Yet the work isn’t finished. The Bay Area Council last Friday led a coalition of business, water, and environmental organizations to call on state leaders to pass an appropriation this session for the climate resilience investments authorized by Proposition 4. The longer we wait, the more costly needed water recycling, forestry management, coastal resilience, and other projects are to build and the more dangerous inaction becomes. See our advocacy letter here.
