Career Fairs Provide Good Opportunities in Tight Labor Market

With record-low unemployment and a tight labor market, Bay Area employers are struggling to find qualified workers for many good-paying, middle skills jobs. To help fill some of those positions, the Bay Area Council recently partnered with the San Francisco International Airport and Work2Future on two career fairs that brought together 300 job seekers with 50 employers. The Working at SFO career fair featured a variety of government, aviation industry and airport services opportunities. At the career fair with Work2Future in San Jose, students and job seekers met with employers representing advanced manufacturing, finance, construction, and transportation industries. The Council looks forward to continuing these partnerships and strengthening career pathways for job seekers and students throughout the region.
