Bay Area Council Workforce of the Future Committee Officially Launches

Fueled by the resounding interest of our members, the Bay Area Council’s Workforce of the Future Committee officially launched yesterday (Oct. 21) on the Klamath. The meeting kicked off by introducing the new co-chairs to the group before presenting the group’s key initiatives and proposed priorities for the year ahead.

Meeting Highlights

• Mattie Zazueta from OpenAI presented the Jobs and Certifications programs that OpenAI is building with the Bay Area Council as their California launch partner and opened the door for our membership to weigh in on the design and impact of the programs.
• Key priority areas, which will turn into working groups and initiatives, were presented next. The group reviewed market data and initiatives that fell into three buckets: AI quantum and the future of work; industry and workforce alignment; and, alternative career pathways
• The Committee also heard from Mar Carpanelli, LinkedIn’s Head of AI & Skills Research, who presented LinkedIn’s latest findings on AI’s impacts on our workforce and job market trends.

We concluded with an extended listening session, hearing from members on what they would like to see the committee accomplish as well as what their companies and organizations are both bringing to the table and attempting to tackle in the year to come. The meeting kicked off with a remembrance of our previous, revered and very much missed leader Linda Bidrossian, whose impact we plan to build on as a tribute to her legacy of leadership in her time at the Bay Area Council.
