Climate Bond Debate Heats Up

Posted In:

Following the Governor’s call for a climate resilience bond on the 2024 ballot, Senators Eggman and Niello on Friday introduced legislation (SB 638) which would place a $4.5 billion bond to fund flood control projects in the Central Valley and Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The bill comes as the Bay Area Council’s Water and Climate Resilience Committee prepares to meet on Feb. 27 with special guest Joe Caves, Founder of Conservation Strategies Group, to discuss strategies for including Council priorities, including water recycling, desalination, storage, and sea level rise adaptation projects, into whatever climate resilience bond goes to the voters in 2024.
