Council Endorses Coastside Affordable Housing Project

Posted In:

The Bay Area Council Housing Committee this week endorsed a 71-unit affordable housing project that nonprofit MidPen Housing Corporation is proposing to build in Moss Beach. The Cypress Point development on a little over 10 acres would provide badly needed affordable housing in the small coastal town. Half the site would be set aside for open space and community space. The project has faced stiff local opposition, and is scheduled for a hearing in front of the San Mateo County Planning Commission next week as part of a larger review and approval process. MidPen Housing is one of the nation’s leading non-profit developers, owners and managers of high-quality affordable housing. In the 45-plus years since MidPen was founded, the organization has developed over 100 communities and 8,500 homes for low-income families, seniors and special needs individuals throughout Northern California. To propose a project for endorsement or to engage in the Council’s housing policy work, please contact Senior Vice President Matt Regan.
