Council Helps Secure Funding to Protect Golden Gate Bridge
A project to make critical seismic improvements to the Golden Gate Bridge got a $400 million infusion last week when the Federal Highway Administration released the funding behind advocacy from the Bay Area Council. Congratulations to Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District General Manager and Council Board Member Denis Mulligan for his leadership in securing this vital funding.
The Council advocated for the U.S. Department of Transportation to obligate the funds, elevated the issue among the Bay Area Congressional delegation, and facilitated a meeting on the Klamath between Mulligan and Rep. Vince Fong, who helped communicate to Transportation Sec. Sean Duffy the importance of these funds to strengthen the bridge for future generations.
