Bay Area TDM Summit Explores New Ways to Move Around

The Bay Area TDM Summit 2023 featured an all-star lineup of transportation experts and over 100 mobility enthusiasts last Friday (Sept. 22) at the Bay Area Metro Center in San Francisco. The Bay Area Council was proud to co-host this all-day event which included enriching conversations about how the Bay Area can best pursue transportation demand management (TDM) strategies to provide comfortable and convenient ways for residents to move around besides driving alone.

Keynote speakers California Secretary of Transportation Toks Omishakin and Metropolitan Transportation Commission Executive Director Andrew Fremier highlighted the need to expand transit, carpooling, and bike infrastructure to achieve the state’s climate, equity, and mobility goals. Among the panelists that followed was Council Vice President Emily Loper, who moderated a discussion with Council members Brendon Harrington (Google) and Alyssa Sherman (Salesforce) on innovative strategies to make it easier for employees to commute to offices in the post-pandemic world.

Special thanks to Council member Jessica Alba, Director of Policy & TDM at Stanford University, for spearheading this energizing event. To engage in the Council’s transportation work, please contact Vice President Emily Loper.
