From the birth of the technology industry in Silicon Valley to the rise of AI powerhouses today, the Bay Area is the world’s undisputed capitol for technology and innovation. We attract the most investment and the best talent. We are home to many of the world’s largest and leading technology companies, iconic companies spanning a range of industries from AI and software, to biotech, media and space. Protecting and growing our technology and innovation leadership is one of the Bay Area Council’s top priorities.
Key Priorities
- Champion Bay Area AI leadership by leading advocacy to support policies at the state and federal levels that advance the development and deployment of frontier models and systems.
- Accelerate and expand data center capacity by addressing state permitting and local air quality rules that are overly restrictive.
- Support frontier technologies, including advocacy leadership for energy and infrastructure resourcing, deployment of autonomous vehicles and expanded application of advanced manufacturing exemptions.
- Support access to global talent by promoting federal efforts which help industry attract and retain the brightest domestic and international workers.
- Advocate for strengthened science and research investment.
