The Bay Area Council is proud to share that CEO Jim Wunderman has once again been named to Capitol Weekly’s Top 100 list, recognizing California’s most influential leaders in politics, policy, and government. The annual list shines a light on the people who help shape the future of the state, and Jim’s inclusion reflects both his personal leadership and the lasting impact of the Bay Area Council. This marks at least 15 consecutive years that Jim has appeared on the list and his place at #43 is a big jump from recent years.
Since taking the helm in 2004, Jim has guided the Council through two decades of extraordinary change and growth in California. Under his leadership, the Council has strengthened its role as a trusted voice for the business community, a convener of diverse stakeholders, and an innovative problem-solver on the state’s most pressing issues, from housing and homelessness to climate resilience, transportation, workforce development, and the economy.
The Council’s influence extends far beyond the Bay Area. Its policy expertise, data-driven research, and collaborative approach have positioned it as one of California’s premier business and public policy associations. Working closely with policymakers at every level of government, the Council has advanced bold solutions that keep the state competitive while improving quality of life for its residents.
Jim’s recognition on the Top 100 underscores the respect and credibility that both he and the Bay Area Council have earned statewide. It is a reminder of the vital role business leadership plays in shaping California’s future—and a proud moment for all who support the Council’s mission.
