The Bay Area Council’s 65th annual dinner Wednesday night was full of surprises.
Warren Hellman delivered the biggest surprise. The financier interrupted his own introductory remarks to say he had a special guest to introduce honoree and angel investor Ron Conway. From backstage walked MC Hammer — in a suit and tie, no less.
In typical fashion, Hellman told the crowd that standing there with Conway, and Hammer between them, reminded him of the time he landed in a front-page photo in the New York Times, with the caption, “Prince Charles standing behind unidentified man.”
