Council Showcases Bay Area Tech, Innovation Leadership at APEC 2025 CEO Summit

The Bay Area Council and member MEBO International represented Silicon Valley’s leadership in innovation and responsible technology governance at the recent APEC 2025 CEO Summit in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea.
Kevin Xu, Council Executive Committee member and President of MEBO International, spoke during the CEO Summit on the role of global collaboration in advancing artificial intelligence and biotechnology innovation. Council Vice President for Global Programs Alex Foard met with Vietnamese President Lương Cường to discuss expanding economic and technological partnerships between Silicon Valley and Vietnam, including cooperation on digital transformation and workforce development.

Held under the theme “Building a Sustainable Tomorrow: Connect, Innovate, Prosper,” this year’s APEC Summit gathered leaders from across 21 member economies to address regional priorities in AI governance, energy transition, inclusive growth, and digital trade. The resulting Gyeongju Declaration emphasized AI and emerging technologies as key drivers of future prosperity across the Asia-Pacific.
The Bay Area Council’s participation ensured that Silicon Valley perspectives on innovation, regulation, and global partnership were well represented in the APEC dialogue, reinforcing the Council’s mission to bridge Bay Area innovation with international policymaking and investment.
