Bay Area Council Congratulates Sweden on New Consulate General in San Francisco

Sweden last week (Feb. 20) formally opened a full consulate general in San Francisco, replacing its former honorary consulate. Its commitment to the region reflects the global importance of the Bay Area’s tech and innovation economy and the centrality of its global partnerships. Sweden’s Minister for International Development Cooperation and Trade Johan Forsell and Their Royal Highnesses Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel presided, joined by Consul General Anna Lekvall.

Bay Area Council Economic Institute Senior Director Sean Randolph represented the Council at the opening and Global Business and Investment Committee Co-Chair Kevin Xu later participated in a Green Transition Summit focused on cooperation on green technology and implementation of a Letter of Cooperation on climate which was signed earlier in the week between Minister Forsell and Gov. Newsom. The Bay Area Council congratulates Sweden on the opening of its consulate and welcomes the expanded partnerships it will bring.
