On June 5, the Bay Area Council will host the 2020 Pacific Summit, Presented by TMG Partners, virtually for the first time in the event’s 20-year history. Given the ongoing threat to public health posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the nationwide protests sparked by the death of George Floyd and continued racial injustice, the Council is proud to gather civic and business leaders in an innovative online forum this year to explore the major political, economic, cultural and social trends that are shaping our world and the Pacific region.

The Pacific Summit is one of the Bay Area Council’s most anticipated and thought-provoking events of the year designed to spur dialogue and promote new ideas and solutions among the Bay Area’s thought leaders. The Council is extremely excited to announce an incredible line up of speakers and an innovative virtual conference platform that will deliver a rich, engaging and interactive experience for our sponsors and attendees. Among the confirmed speakers are national political commentators James Carville and Laura Ingraham, who will engage in a verbal joust over the politics of COVID-19 and how it will shape the Presidential election in a conversation moderated by TMG Partners and former Bay Area Council Chair Michael Covarrubias.
The Council is also excited that Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, San Francisco Mayor London Breed and San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo will convene for a fascinating session on how their cities are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and what their plans are for reopening. Additionally, Gregory Adams, Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. and Hospitals, will engage attendees with the latest insights on the impact COVID-19 has had on the Bay Area health system. Finally, we’re excited to bring together Rick Welts, President of the Golden State Warriors, Larry Baer, CEO of the San Francisco Giants, and Dave Kaval, President of the Oakland A’s to discuss the future of professional sports as cities start to reopen amid the pandemic.
In addition to serving as a forum for top thought leaders, the Pacific Summit is a critical event for supporting the Council’s ongoing operations and enabling us to continue working on our members’ behalf to respond to COVID-19, help our members with issues and challenges they are facing and advancing our policy work in housing, transportation, homelessness, workforce, climate resilience and more. The virtual platform we are using this year offers terrific opportunities to showcase your company’s brand and message in front of a large audience.
