Decoding the Impact of COVID-19 on China’s Economy

COVID-19 hit China right before the Spring Festival, the most disruptive event in China when almost all businesses close to allow for their employees to spend the holiday with their families. It can take weeks under normal circumstances for the economy to get back on track. So, what happened this year? How did the COVID-19 impact manufacturing, restaurants, and entertainment? How has an unprecedented lockdown changed shopping habits, ecommerce, and social media activity?

We dug into these questions during our March 30 virtual forum with the help of a report from data analytics company, GTCOM-US. Leveraging their diverse data sources and broad partnerships with data vendors in China, GTCOM-US provided a deep, thorough, and real-time analysis on the impact of Coronavirus during the lockdown and the continuing recovery.
