San Francisco Bay Ferry broke its all-time record for average daily ridership in a month in June. According to preliminary data, the ferry service carried an average of 10,992 riders per day in June, breaking its record of 10,729 riders per day set in August 2019. The Bay Area Council was instrumental in the creation of SF Bay Ferry and has worked to expand the regional system.

SF Bay Ferry also beat its all-time June ridership record with nearly 330,000 passengers, up 16% over 2025. The agency beat pre-pandemic ridership for the seventh consecutive month and smashed its budget year ridership record with 3.25 million passengers from July 2025 through the end of June, beating its pre-pandemic record by 7%. Year-over-year ferry ridership has now grown for 60 consecutive months. Increased weekday commute ridership and enhanced service for major events including June’s S.F. Pride Parade have fueled ridership growth.

San Francisco Bay Ferry is a regional public transit agency tasked with developing, operating and expanding ferry service on the San Francisco Bay and with coordinating the water transit response to regional emergencies. The agency operates ferry routes connecting the cities of Alameda, Oakland, Richmond, San Francisco, South San Francisco and Vallejo.
