Muni Responds to Council Advocacy, Adds More Express Buses Serving Downtown
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) announced that it will add more morning runs on the 30x (Marina) and 1x (California) starting next week in response to rising demand for downtown commute services. The 30x and 1x are widely popular services that connect commuters from the Marina and Richmond neighborhoods to their jobs downtown, but they were suspended during the pandemic and were only recently restored following years of persistent advocacy by the Bay Area Council.
SFMTA is now responding to employers’ call to add more service to downtown by adding more runs despite the agency’s dire financial constraints. We applaud SF Director of Transportation Julie Kirschbaum for identifying a creative solution that adds morning trips to downtown without adding costs for the agency, and for recognizing the importance of these commute services to revitalize our downtown economy. We encourage our members to get the word out to their employees and share more information on those service changes here. For more information, please contact Senior Vice President Emily Loper.
