Bay Area Council Partners with OpenAI to Expand AI Literacy Across the Region

The Bay Area Council is proud to announce an exclusive partnership with OpenAI—its only partner in California—to help Bay Area workers and businesses harness the transformative power of artificial intelligence through comprehensive AI literacy programs.

As part of OpenAI’s ambitious commitment to certify 10 million Americans by 2030, the Council will work with the AI leader to connect our member companies and their employees with cutting-edge training and certification opportunities. The collaboration addresses a critical workforce need identified by OpenAI: studies show that AI-savvy workers are more valuable, more productive, and are paid more than workers without AI skills.

“I believe AI will unlock more opportunities for more people than any technology in history,” said Fidji Simo, CEO of OpenAI Applications. “But AI will also be disruptive. Jobs will look different, companies will have to adapt, and all of us—from shift workers to CEOs—will have to learn how to work in new ways.”

Through the partnership, Bay Area Council members will gain access to OpenAI’s new certification programs ranging from basic workplace AI applications to advanced technical skills, plus priority access to the company’s Jobs Platform connecting employers with AI-skilled talent. The initiative leverages OpenAI’s Academy platform, which has already helped connect more than 2 million people with AI training resources.
