Council Builds Global Partnerships to Advance AI Leadership

In continuing our Global AI Impact series, the Bay Area Council and Consulate General of the Republic of Korea hosted a timely discussion on international security cooperation in the age of artificial intelligence. Experts from academia, policy and industry convened on December 10 to examine how artificial intelligence is reshaping decision-making in national defense and cyber governance.
Professor Joonkoo Yoo, Director of the Center for Security Strategy at the Sejong Institute, presented on complexities and challenges of AI technology, its convergence with other emerging technologies, and the need for coherent legal frameworks. Sean Randolph, Senior Director at the Bay Area Council Economic Institute, moderated a panel, featuring Andrew Reddie, the founder of Berkeley Risk and Security Lab, and Marina Favaro, National Security Policy & Partnerships at Anthropic. The panelists discussed AI-enabled cyber and other security threats, collaboration between governments and private industries, and the development of regulatory frameworks, including the importance of technical standards and capacity building across countries.
The Bay Area Council will continue to explore different aspects of AI and its impact across industries in 2026. To learn more about the work of our Global Business and Investment Committee, please contact Global Programs Vice President Alex Foard.
