Alex Pinigis is a Policy Assistant at the Bay Area Council, where he contributes to efforts to restore transit ridership to pre-pandemic levels and create the world-class transit system the Bay Area deserves. Currently a second-year Master of Public Policy candidate at UC Berkeley’s Goldman School, Alex is passionate about achieving racial and climate justice through transportation and housing policy.
Alex earned his bachelor’s degree in neuroscience at UC Berkeley, after which he worked as a biologist for ten years at the Exploratorium, San Francisco’s world-famous hands-on science museum. There, he served in a variety of union roles, including on the negotiations committee and as vice president. Alex currently lives in Oakland with his wife, Tavi, and their two dogs, and is an avid road biker and tabletop gamer.
