Business Council on Climate Change (BC3)
BC3 is a partnership co-founded and sponsored by the Bay Area Council, the United Nation’s Global Compact and the San Francisco Department of the Environment for San Francisco Bay Area businesses committed to reducing their green house gas emissions. See www.bc3sfbay.org for more information.

China
The China Committee works to position the Bay Area and its companies as the gateway between China and the United States, plus help China nurture a robust “innovation economy” and cleaner environmental future. We are building a lasting conduit for sharing capital, ideas, innovation and resources between the Bay Area and Yangtze Delta regions.

Early Childhood Education Committee
The Early Childhood Education Committee is working to produce a research report to support the business case for investment in early education. That report will assist in the Committee’s efforts to promote early education as an efficiency measure which helps to avoid potential costs of grade retention, special education, drop-outs, crime engagement, low skills, and low income levels.

Education K-12
The Education Committee currently is focusing of education reform opportunities that arise from a major body of research, overseen by Stanford University, into the finance and governance of public education in California.

Energy
The Bay Area Council’s resource committees work to assure reliable, low cost, and high quality energy resources that support the economic vitality of the region while protecting the ecosystem and environmental quality of the Bay Area.

Healthcare
The Healthcare Committee is working on statewide health reform.   We work to educate ourselves and others on the status of health care in California and on its cost drivers.  We advocate in particular for programs and practices that hold promise of improving quality and bringing costs under control.

Housing & Land Use
The Regional Housing and Land Use Committee is implementing a strategy to support legislative change on sustainable land use and housing. For land use changes to be made effective we advocate for state, regional and local reform that would result in more housing and employment centers being networked to accessible mass transit options.

Housing Endorsement
The lack of housing in the Bay Area for all levels of affordability is one of the most serious threats to our regional economy and an issue of concern for everyone who lives and works here. The Housing Endorsement Committee was created to assist housing developments that fit a strict set of smart growth criteria as they seek approval from local governments.

Transportation
The Transportation Committee has identified three transportation issues on which it intends to lead in 2008: Transportation reform, including Performance Based Infrastructure; securing responsible use of Proposition 1B transportation bond funds; advocate for inclusion of Bay Area Council transportation policies in the "Transportation 2035" plan being developed by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.

Water
Engage northern California business leaders with other key water and environmental stakeholders from northern California to be able to provide a united voice in the state deliberations around ecosystem restoration in the Bay-Delta estuary system.

Workforce Development
The Workforce Development Committee seeks to develop and strengthen ties between educational institutions and industry to identify skills, support curricula development, and ensure a seamless supply of qualified workers at every employment level.
