The Energy and Change Committee prioritizes and focuses on practices in energy, transportation, public education, smart growth land use, and corporate sustainable practices to maximize reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to sustain and enhance the global competitiveness of the Bay Area. The Committee will advance and influence the development, approval, and execution of a coherent set of regional policies in land use, building, energy use and transportation plans, state and federal legislation, and public and private projects that ensure a livable, sustainable, and prosperous future for Bay Area residents and employers in a low-carbon economy.

Current Prioritites
1. The Energy Committee works from a broad framework on Energy Policy. Fundamentally, we seek to implement an energy system that provides reliable energy by optimizing the best mix of clean, renewable sources. (See attached Bay Area Council Framework on Energy Policy).
2. Propelling the Bay Area to be the global Clean Tech Capital by implementing a focused 3I strategy to maintain and accelerate its leadership through providing the premier climate for investment, supportive infrastructure to use the technologies, and conditions that support continual breakthrough innovations.
3. Providing founding leadership to develop and implement the Business Council on Climate Change (BC3) with the United Nation's Global Compact and the San Francisco Department of the Environment. BC3 is a business member driven program to support collaboration and peer-based learning to implement best practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. (See www.bc3.cc)
