Mission Bay Community Outreach
Mission Bay Community Outreach is an initiative spearheaded by the Bay Area Council and the Bay Area Equity Fund, aimed at enriching the Mission Bay Community. Corporate resources and volunteers are being coordinated to more effectively engage their local community, an area that houses one of the Bay Area Equity Fund’s portfolio companies.

During the quarterly meetings, presentations are made by both community groups as well as the corporate members. Community groups are able to feature their programs, presenting various needs and opportunities to participate in community-based activities. The corporate members are also able to highlight their current engagement with the community, and speak to the resources and areas in which they are looking to become more involved. Bringing the areas needs and available resources together to the table, the program is able to forge partnerships and relationships between the participants to jointly enhance the Mission Bay community.

Members of Mission Bay Community Outreach include Borders Books, Catholic Healthcare West, FivePrime Therapeutics, Gladstone Institutes, Mission, Office of Community Development, Office of Economic Development, San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, San Francisco Giants, University of California San Francisco, and Washington Mutual.

Current priorities identified by the members for the Mission Bay community include: community participation, economic development, children, housing, health, careers in science, and financial services among others.
