Assemblywoman Fiona Ma began her career in public service as an aide to John Burton. In 2002 the voters of the Sunset District recognized Fiona’s many years of effective service by electing her to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. As a Certified Public Accountant by profession she brought a much needed sense of fiscal accountability to San Francisco City Hall and immediately went to work cutting government waste. She also fostered many successful programs and legislative initiatives to help immigrant communities in San Francisco succeed and prosper. In 2006 the voters of the 12th Assembly District in turn recognized Fiona’s talents and elected her to represent them in Sacramento. Her colleagues there immediately elected her Majority Whip, a rare honor for a freshman legislator. Fiona is Chair of the Legislative High Speed Rail Caucus and has worked tirelessly to advance that cause and get us where we are today, with HSR no longer talked about as a dream, rather now as a reality of the future.
