The Bay Area Council’s resource committees work to assure reliable, low cost, and high quality energy resources that support the economic vitality of the region while protecting the ecosystem and environmental quality of the Bay Area. The Energy and Natural Resources Committee is the place to address climate change as it impacts the private sector and the private sector provides input to the creation of a viable system to achieve reduction targets of greenhouse gas emissions in California.
Current Prioritites
1. The Energy Committee works from a broad framework on Energy Policy. Fundamentally, we seek to implement an energy system that provides reliable energy by optimizing the best mix of clean, renewable sources. (See attached Bay Area Council Framework on Energy Policy).
2. Propelling the Bay Area to be the global Clean Tech Capital by implementing a focused 3I strategy to maintain and accelerate its leadership through providing the premier climate for investment, supportive infrastructure to use the technologies, and conditions that support continual breakthrough innovations.
3. Providing founding leadership to develop and implement the Business Council on Climate Change (BC3) with the United Nation's Global Compact and the San Francisco Department of the Environment. BC3 is a business member driven program to support collaboration and peer-based learning to implement best practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. (See www.bc3.cc) |
