Bing has established a global perspective with an insightful working knowledge of China/Asia Pacific through her 16 years of experience in cross-border communications, corporate marketing and PR in the media and hi-tech industries. Previously, she lead the design and delivery of marketing communications efforts for Cisco’s China programs in the Corporate Social Responsibility sector focusing on healthcare, education and leadership training. In this capacity, she travelled to China frequently and was occasionally stationed there for several months. During that period, she was also the founding member of two education related NGOs focusing on bilingual education, executive training and cultural diversity.
Bing started her early career with Dow Jones Inc and Reuters Television at their Asian headquarters in Hong Kong. She was the Regional Senior Marketing Manager with Dow Jones, where she traveled around Asia driving marketing and PR campaigns and sales training among 15 Asian Pacific country offices for Dow Jones Newswire products in the region. She then moved on to establish a cross-cultural PR and Marketing consulting company in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2001.
Born and raised in Shanghai next to the Bund, Bing’s family included C-level executives of state owned enterprises. Bing has evolved to be a corporate marketer and philanthropist. Educated at one of the best boarding schools in China in Shanghai, affiliated with Fudan University, she won an education award to attend the University of Sussex in England, an equivalent of UC Berkeley in the USA. With excellent verbal and written communications skills in both English and Mandarin Chinese, she also speaks fluent Shanghainese and conversational Cantonese.
Known as an original thinker, a creative problem solver and a collaborative leader, she strongly believes in “3I” - Innovation, Interdisciplinary, and Interfaith. She is also deeply involved in the holistic whole-child education of her young daughter and supporting her local community.
