Lauren Straub, Public Policy Analyst, engages members and staff in developing and advocating Council positions on public policy issues and provides support for public policy programs and initiatives.
Originally from New York City, she was previously employed by a regional industrial economic development organization and the Research Foundation of the City University of New York, where she worked on double-bottom-line issues, particularly sustainable waste management and marketing sustainable behavior to business. In San Francisco, she has played a hands-on role in the empowerment of women and minorities in business through the combination of grassroots organizing and federal and state policy advocacy.
In her spare time, Lauren has long been committed to organizations dedicated to inter-cultural conflict resolution, counseling trauma survivors, and social-issue documentary film production. She loves the Bay Area and always looks for new ways to take advantage of it and make it better. Lauren has received her bachelor’s degree in urban anthropology and psychology from State University of New York.
