John Grubb

John Grubb is the Vice President of Communications for the Bay Area Council. John worked to transform a small-scale media program into a key focus for the Council that has generated more than 2000 print and broadcast stories each year. He helped formulate and execute many of the Council’s successful advocacy campaigns that have improved the lives of millions of Bay Area residents, and currently also staffs the Council’s China Initiative. John previously worked at Hill and Knowlton, and Porter Novelli, two of the world’s largest public relations agencies. Prior to his communications work, he founded, owned and managed a bar and restaurant in Manual Antonio, Costa Rica. His best selling drink was a coconut margarita, and to this day he has not revealed his secret recipe.
John volunteers his time on the Board of the Alzheimer's Association - Northern California and Northern Nevada, he Chairs the SF Public Relations Round Table (the oldest PR organization in America), and he is a member of the Executive Committee of the campaign for SMART (the Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit). A Vanderbilt University graduate, he and his wife Koren live in San Rafael with their daughter Natasha and son Jack.
